What to look for in an e-rig
First, size. Pen-style units like the Dr.Dabber Ghost 2 are the easiest to carry. Rig-style units like the Puffco Peak Pro or Dr.Dabber Switch 2 run vapor through water for a smoother hit, but they are happiest on a table.
Second, chamber material. Ceramic is known for flavour, titanium for durability, quartz and sapphire for clean taste and easy wiping. Third, temperature control: some models offer a few presets, others fine control through an app. Last, check the price of replacement chambers, because they are a wear item you will buy again.
Puffco vs Dr.Dabber in our range
Puffco runs from the compact Pivot (about ฿6,500) and the modular Proxy, which works with or without a glass piece, to The New Peak and the flagship Peak Pro and Peak Pro 3DXL, which pair with an app.
Dr.Dabber starts with the Ghost 2 pen at about ฿4,900, then the compact XS. The Switch Go and Switch 2 use induction heating and accept titanium, quartz or sapphire inserts. We also carry the Cloud V Electro 4, about ฿8,900, with a quartz chamber and digital temperature control.
Using and cleaning an e-rig
Load small amounts. Overloading floods the chamber and makes vapor harsh. Use the carb cap to control airflow, and fill water only to the level the manufacturer marks.
After each session, switch off, let the chamber cool to just warm, and wipe it with a cotton swab dipped in isopropyl alcohol. Residue comes off far more easily before it hardens. Change the water often and soak the glass now and then. Spare chambers for the Peak Pro, Ghost 2 and XS, plus Switch inserts, are in our Parts category.
